The Jhatpat Studio (instant studio) is a part of rural fairs and festivals in Punjab and other parts of India. The studio invariably provides backdrops and cutouts as ready props to get oneself photographed with popular film stars, as driving a car or wearing the uniform of a cop with a gun. In many ways it serves the purpose of realizing the unfulfilled desires and fantasies of a populace having minimal access to city life and luxuries though as a photographic record only.
