Manna’s stunning colour photography acts as reflection upon the political violence in the state of Punjab over the last ten years. It also serves as a humane and sensitive tribute to the unsuspected sources of tenderness and fortitude which arise out of such political situations. This intensely colourful, yet quietly ethereal work provides a meditation on strife and the destruction of humanity quite unlike anything produced by the work of western photojournalists. The result is visual poetry.
