Manna’s Frames on Berlin wall!
Times News Network
THE Museum for Indian Art that reopened in October 2000 in Berlin. Germany, is conceptualized as a museum of non-European Art in the 21st century. So, the art of Indo Asiatic region that was getting a step motherly treatment before the opening of the museum in Europe, now stands somewhat corrected. The contemporary art of Asia and South East Asia attracts special attention in this museum.
Apart from the traditional paintings and sculptures, photography has also been taken into focus in the museum.
What needs special mention here is the fact that the city-based artist-photographer Diwan Manna’s works were displayed in the museum. Photographs from different themes that Diwan has focused upon over the years – from Dhaba, Alienation to Shores of the Unknown, all works have found rave reviews in the prestigious art magazines in Germany. “Manna’s, only at the first sight, socio-critical photographic works are full of strong feelings for beauty and virtue, which leaves behind the prominent aspect of the alienation through the personal fate of the one,” writes Raffael Dedo Gadebusch, deputy director of the museum for Indian art.
Kudos Manna!
