National Academy and Lalit Kala Academy awards winner Diwan Manna has the unique distinction of being invited by the All Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) to hold an exhibition of his works.
A peripatetic photographer, Diwan visits distant shores in Europe and brings back images of people in a hurry. In a tearing hurry. Humans reduced to a blur. Not knowing where they are going. That there is a void inside them amidst it all – the hustle and bustle of the London Tube, Oxford and a Paris square – is all written on their faces.
In all, 40 photographs focus on the contemporary lives. Diwan captures the essence of western culture in the modern age – individuals with tenuous emotional and spiritual links.
The young photographer wants people to pause and ask where all this materialism is taking them. Don’t rush mindlessly, think a little ahead.
