The exhibition was inaugurated by celebrated artist and photographer Diwan Manna, who spoke on, ‘Transitioning from being a hobbyist to being a pro-photographer’. Manna emphasised on the need to integrate photography into mainstream education as art helps to fuel free expression, develops the thought process and builds focus. “There is so much we can express with art and photography – beauty and dignity of beings, feelings across cultures, languages and political milieus and even our anguish, one picture may say it all,” said Manna, known for his conceptual photography, which combines photography with painting and art to create works that defy definition. Talking about the role of technology and high-end cameras being used in art, Manna said, “There are two aspects to photography. A good camera can give anyone the craft, but art can only come with passion, innovation and a quest for learning.” Navneet Saxena, Director Sculpteye stated that the club had been launched more than two decades back with an endeavour to open new doors and possibilities in the field of photography, which can help students identify if they want to pursue photography as a hobby or mainstream career.
